Seeing the Anti-Bias Goals as an Intricate Part of your curriculum

January 6 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Virtual Event

These sessions will combine the previous Anti-Bias series incorporating a focus on helping participants understand how they are currently addressing the Anti-Bias goals and how they can enrich what they are currently doing.

Most programs are already implementing aspects of the anti-bias goals every day in their classrooms and do not realize it. From problem-solving strategies to inviting families to share stories, holidays, and traditions, they are actively engaged in anti-bias work that will prepare children for a diverse and complex world.

This series will focus on helping teachers to recognize and share how they are already addressing these goals right now, and how they can enrich curriculum, documentation, and environments, by reflecting on how they can go deeper into their current practices. Our aim is to think together with educators and caregivers to create a place where children can grow up proud of themselves, be open to others, and empowered to act when things are unfair. We believe these are things most families want for their children.

Sessions 1, 2, 4, and 5

Facilitators will briefly go over our agreements and introduce one antibias goal in depth in three language breakout groups. Participants will share examples of each goal they have observed or can imagine. Facilitators will be there to clarify and keep participants on track. They will record their ideas and share them in a large group when we come back together.

Session 3 and 6 (COP)

Facilitators will revisit the ideas generated by the participants. Participants will then return to their breakout groups to debrief and share stories of how they are integrating some of the ideas in their programs and seek support from their colleagues if challenges have come up.

Sessions provided in English, Spanish, and Chinese
