Reimagining Outdoor Learning Professional Learning Community (PLC)

January 10 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Description:

Would you like to support children in becoming critical thinkers, empathetic observers, and stewards of our planet? Join us for our monthly, in-depth, Professional Learning Community (PLC) sessions where we will foster our understanding about the benefits of outdoor learning and gain practical strategies to implement a curriculum that connects us more to nature.

This professional development offering welcomes educators who want to think deeper and in community, about outdoor play, curriculum and natural environments! ECE educators who have previously participated in the Connecting Children to Nature

projects and PLC are encouraged to continue with us.

Our Learning Objectives include:

  • Promote rich discussions and deeper thinking about outdoor learning in a collaborative format.
  • Connect your vision and your role with ways to support and engage in outdoor learning.
  • Develop teaching practices that honor social justice, equity, and inclusive connection to nature for all children and educators.
  • Experience a reflective, creative process to share resources and innovative ways to create outdoor learning experiences that are creative, accessible, and developmentally engaging.

Facilitators:

  • Sara Sutherland, Instructional Coach & Trainer
  • Yudy Larraburo, Instructional Coach & Trainer
  • In partnership with SF, Department of Early Childhood and SFQC, First 5 SF.

Expectations:

  • We invite you to participate as fully as possible! Be present & engaged.
